Light Up Paper Lanterns – Paper Circuits ⚡️
Paper lanterns are a really quick and simple craft to do, and they work well as a variety of decorations. To match any theme or design preference, you can make them with craft paper in the colors and patterns of your choice. They look fantastic strung up as hanging decor, placed as table centerpieces, and more. For an eccentric appearance, you can also suspend them from string lights. Here’s a tutorial on making a simple paper lantern. You can use ribbon to decorate the lantern, glitter, paint on the paper, or use other creative methods to add flair.
Supplies for Paper Lanterns:
What You Need
Tools and Equipment
- Cutlery
- Staplers
- Two rolls of toilet paper or a4 size paper
- Two sheets 12 by 12 inch craft paper in two different colors
- Glue
- Ribbon
Guidelines
Cut One Paper Sheet in Half
First, decide which craft paper color or pattern to use on the outside and which to use on the inside of the lanterns. If the two sheets of paper aren’t already 12 inches by 12 inches, cut them to that size.
The paper you will be using for the inside of the lanterns should then be folded in half, unfolded, and cut along the crease you created. You will only need one of these pieces you just cut for each toilet paper roll.
To fit the rolls, size the paper.
Encircle a roll of toilet paper with each craft paper rectangle that you have just cut. Trim any extra paper so that it just reaches the roll’s surface.
Put Adhesive Paper Into Rolls
Attach the sized craft paper to each toilet paper roll using glue dots. Each roll should provide roughly six glue dots.
Measure the outer paper and cut it.
Now place one of the toilet paper rolls or another paper over the craft paper that you used to decorate the lanterns’ exteriors. After wrapping the paper around the roll once, cut just enough of it to fit. For the second roll, cut another sheet of paper to the same size.
Cut Cuts in the Outside Paper
Cut one piece of outer paper in half lengthwise. Next, make incisions into the folded side, stopping approximately one inch from the opposite border. You will see more of the interior paper on the lantern the more slits you make. Open the paper. For the second piece of outer paper, repeat these steps.
Secure the Rolls with the Outer Paper.
Staple the outer paper sheet to the toilet paper rolls at the top and bottom after encircling each roll with it. Pinch the central slits to make them protrude.
Put the Ribbon Handle in Place
To create a handle for your paper lantern, trim a ribbon to the desired length.
At one end of the lantern, use glue dots to secure the ribbon to each side. Continue with the other lantern.
and finally your beautiful paper lantern is ready to decor .
